For those who don’t know, Positano is in Italy. Located on the Amalfi Coast.
Where is Positano?
The Amalfi coast is a stretch of coastline on the southern side of Italy. It’s famous for its beautiful views and cliffside towns. One of the most popular towns in this area is Positano.
Positano is an Italian coastal town with a population of about 4,000 people. This town has been designated as one of the most beautiful places to travel to by National Geographic and Lonely Planet. It’s also been featured in many movies such as “The Talented Mr Ripley” and “Under The Tuscan Sun”.
There are many things to do in Positano – from visiting historic sites, going on boat tours, or just taking a walk on the beach.
Inspiration for a Positano Trip
Southern Italy is a land of beauty, history and culture. The Amalfi Coast is one of the most famous places in Southern Italy. With stunning beaches and breathtaking views.
The Amalfi Coast is one of the most famous regions in all Italy, and it’s not hard to see why. The coastline is lined with gorgeous cliffs that plunge into the crystal blue waters below, and the region is famous for its lemons.
Positano lemons are a traditional product of the area and they are often used to make limoncello – an Italian lemon liqueur that has become popular all over the world.
That is really the only inspiration you need but we can tell you a bit of our experience.
Our Positano Experience
We came from Salerno. Salerno is a little south of the major cities that most people want to go to for the “Amalfi Coast.” Our travel was on a budget and Salerno was more in our price range.
It ended up being great, working perfectly as a hub for us to ferry to all the Amalfi Coast. It was also just a beautiful city in its own right.
Positano in particular was one we were excited for. Famous people, IG posts and limoncello, enough said. While we aren’t star chasers or anything, it’s cool to go where the elite go.
We went with the intention of doing a beach day and taking some glorious photos.
The photos were easy but the beach day, well…
We’ll say that the beach and view from the beach are amazing. The actual beach and swimming area is small. All the boat traffic causes rough water and minimal swimming opportunities.
If you’re willing to pay a large rate for a chair it may be a bit more enjoyable, but we did not do that.
Two of the top 10 Amalfi Coast Beaches are in Positano, rated by others, so maybe it was just our experience. Maybe it was not a typical one.
Need a little More Inspiration for a Positano Trip?
There are many things to do in Positano. The first thing that you should do when you arrive is walk around and explore the different shops. There are many beautiful boutiques that sell clothes, jewelry, and souvenirs. You can also find restaurants and cafes along the way where you can enjoy some delicious food while taking in the views of this beautiful town.
Visit the Le Sirenuse Hotel for one of the best views of Positano. One better stay there if you can afford it. We hear it’s amazing. Here’s on of the views.
Visitors to Positano can also enjoy boat tours of the city, which show off the best views and take you to some hidden gems.Some boat tours will also stop at a restaurant in Amalfi for a delicious lunch or dinner.
Lastly, Positano is a beautiful, charming town that is worth visiting.
